MISSION
Promote 2 Prevent provides free STD/HIV/Pregnancy testing and treatment to youth 13 through 24 years of age in Miami-Dade County, FL.

The Promote 2 Prevent Outreach and Education Program also incorporates the HELPIN’ (Health Education and Life Protection Issues Now) series of workshops to reach youth at various locations including the local school’s alternative education sites and Department of Juvenile Justice sites.

Miami holds the distinction of the highest rate of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) diagnoses in the nation.

• In Miami-Dade County there were 1,368 reported diagnoses
• 15.3% (210 individuals) were 13 to 24 years of age.
• As of 2012, only 40% of HIV positive adolescents were aware of their serostatus
• Despite overwhelming demand, P2P is Miami’s sole clinic that provides free testing and treatment exclusively for adolescents
• Only 48% of a nationally representative sample of 1500 youth knew “for sure” of nearby testing site locations.
