ABOUT

MISSION

Adolescent Counseling & Testing Services provides FREE counseling, linkage to care, and STD/HIV/pregnancy testing to youth 13 through 24 years of age in Miami-Dade County, FL.

In addition, we run Promote 2 Prevent: a campaign to use education to prevent infection. Miami has the highest rate of HIV diagnoses in the nation. Individuals ages 13-24 represented 12% of new infections in 2017. Our campaign includes providing education and testing at various locations including local alternative education sites and Department of Juvenile Justice sites, conducting staff in-services for health providers, and engaging in the community through health committees, conferences, and fairs.

The Facts

Provided by the Centers for Diseases Control and Protection

Miami’s Leaders Must Work Together to Protect Our Youth

Miami’s youth are at risk for many other dangerous conditions, in addition to HIV. In most cases, there is an overlap: homeless youth who find themselves battling addiction, mentally ill individuals succumbing to homelessness- the Venn diagram is a perfect circle. To provide adequate care, there must be a collaborative effort among Miami’s various support systems. Awareness of resources and accessibility are two factors that affect a health provider’s ability to provide care. For this reason, ACTS is developing a Miami-Dade Care Directory, by the people, for the people.
